Boots: We Have a Winnah!
Before announcing the winner of the Irish Setter upland boot giveaway, we’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who entered. In a word, the “entries” were…great. Really. So much so that we’re going to pester Irish Setter (and others) for more stuff to give away.
But since someone had to win, we picked this entry:
I am a serious bird hunter and could definitely use some serious boots. I started hunting last year on a very tight budget. I was able to find a used pump shotgun and a hand-me-down vest. I spent many hours walking through the thick with them and an old pair of pack boots.
Last season ended with many miles walked and only a handful of flushes to show for all my efforts. I didn’t even fire a single shot. I believe this year will be better since I read your book and I’m sure some serious boots would help too.
Why did we pick it? The book plug – lol, just kidding.
We kept coming back to that entry because that’s the spirit of bird hunting. That’s where we (and probably you) started: any shotgun, any gear, start walking.
Jay called Brett, the guy who submitted that, to check out Brett’s story and inform him he’d won. Here are a few more details:
> Brett just started hunting last year because it’s not “sit in a tree” hunting. He likes to walk.
> He quit his job at a bank to do social work (noble, eh?).
