Heck No We Don’t Need Brad Pitt!
First of all, ask any 10 gals and 9 of them will say Brad Pitt is ugly.
Okay, maybe not, but we still don’t need the guy. What are we talking about? Bob St. Pierre’s column in the Minneapolis Star Tribune in which he wonders whether bird hunting would benefit from a movie, along the lines of how fly fishing benefitted (in one way) from the movie version of “A River Runs Through It.”
A valid thought, but the answer is no – or rather, yes, bird hunting could benefit from such a movie, but reality doesn’t even make it a possibility.
This is the nonsensical reality: Despite Hollywood’s apparent comfort with committing murder after murder on-screen, killing non-human animals just won’t fly in goofy-town. This is obvious, but Jay knows this in a small way from personal experience: A well-known Hollywood producer was interested making his lone novel into a movie, but was going to take the pro-hunting stuff out of it! Jay said no thanks….
Anyhow, here’s our opinion: We can’t look outside our own ranks. Bird hunters need to get Serious. If enough of us get Serious – about hunting and hunting opportunities – the things people worry and whine about in hunting (opportunities, numbers, license sales, etc.) won’t be as big a deal.
